It’s that time of year again. That awkward week between Holidays. The year past is not quiet finished, the New Year isn’t here yet. What to do? Sometimes the best thing to do is to lounge by the fireplace. Just like Big G is doing in the video. For those in warmer climates, you might lounge by the pool. Whatever the case, this week is one of my favorites.
I’ve always taken the days between the years to reflect and plan. I start with a blank page of what is possible in the coming year. What do I want to accomplish? How do those accomplishments fit in with my life goals? What goals need to be added? Which ones should be removed? Why?
I don’t use this period as a time for what might have been. For me, it’s more about what is possible. For my most loyal of readers, you know that the primary topic on my sub is caring for terminally ill parents. Both of my parents passed away from cancer and complications associated with it. The experience in taking care of both changed me, and it changed our family. That’s not surprising. But what was surprising, was the lasting change in my approach to family and my own awareness of the hidden struggles just beneath the surface in my relationships with others,
I’ll write more about that in the coming months.
For now, if you are able, enjoy the week between years, and reflect, lounge, give thanks and plan.
